Memo:
|
There are a limited number of these stones in Simsbury, all looking very much like the work of the "Simsbury (CT) Bat Carver" who carved in the area during the same time period. The "Bat Imitator" stones however are in relatively good condition and appear somewhat more stylized and uniformly lettered than the "Simsbury (CT) Bat Carver" stones. The Simsbury Historical Society does not believe that the stones have been recut or replaced. Compare (lettering) to the work of the "Squint-eyed Meriden/Farmington (CT) Carver."
